I have 20 years’ experience as a finance professional across a number of industries, the last 12 years in Agribusiness. My wife Louise and I have two school age children, James and Elanor. Interests include the outdoors, walking and fishing, spending time with family and friends, and following sport.
I grew up on sheep and beef farms in both South Canterbury and North Canterbury so the rural way of life is definitely in my blood.
After leaving school in I spent a year working as a receptionist for a blind cleaning company before moving into the rural industry where I worked in the office for a livestock company for 10 years.
At the beginning of 2016 my husband Matt and I welcomed our first child, Blake. Then in April 2018 we welcomed our second child, Jade with them both keeping us busy. In spare time I love to get outdoors and spend time with friends and family. I also love to spend time in the kitchen baking.
I joined the Hazlett Funding & Procurement team in May 2017 and am really enjoying my role here with a great team.
Having grown up on a sheep & beef farm near Waiau I was always keen to work in the rural sector. After studying Business for 2 years I got my first job in the office of a livestock company, working full-time for 7 years and then part-time after starting our family.
My husband Matt and I have 3 amazing wee boys, Baxter, Jed and Ridge. In our spare time we enjoy spending time with our family and friends. Our boys are sports mad so evenings and weekends are taken up with rugby or cricket either on the back lawn or at our local clubs.

I have been involved in the stock & station industry since 1984 starting at PGG as an office junior for three years, then two years on the road as a livestock rep, before shifting back to the livestock office for the next the 15 years. I have also worked for Frews Transport as a dispatcher and sales rep for 10 years before joining Hazlett. I am married to Marg and have two children Georgia & Jacob. My interests include rugby, golf and tennis.
I was born in Dunedin but have spent most of my time in Christchurch. After graduating from University with a Commerce degree majoring in Accounting and Taxation, I started working in the insurance industry where I remained for 5 years before moving to the Funding & Procurement team at Hazlett in June 2017. In my spare time, I like to go for walks and enjoy spending time with my family and friends.
I joined Hazlett in March 2020 from a customer service background, bringing a passion for quality personalised service to make peoples’ lives easier - developed through a number of roles in hotels, restaurant and catering companies. Most recently, I have been with the Vero Earthquake team, working on complex claims resulting from both the Kaikoura and Canterbury earthquake events. I moved to Christchurch from Auckland in 2009, to study at Lincoln University, graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce and met my partner Mel. Canterbury has become home for us, where outside of work I enjoy cooking, wine, football and getting up the mountain on my snowboard.
I lived all my childhood in Kaiapoi and Woodend, but I am definitely no country girl. There were no farm blocks for me. I have worked in Administration since leaving Kaiapoi High and have worked in many different industries. I happily joined the Hazlett family in July 2018 after working 18 years as an Administration Manager in the fire industry. I love the change and the real family feel that Hazlett has. I am married to Damian and have two daughters, Mackenzie and Tayla. Outside of work I love walking, running, bike riding in the forest close to our home, camping, boating and catching up with friends and family.
I grew up on a farm in Kaikoura and have wonderful memories of farm life. I then went to the big smoke and was educated at a Girls School in Christchurch and started my working career.
I worked for several years in the export industry exporting wool, skins and animal by products. I then established a successful business in partnership with my husband, which gave me the flexibility to spend time with my children while they were young - they are now young adults. I then moved onto Hazlett and have been here pretty much from the start of the wee company, which is not so wee anymore.
I enjoy walks, gardening and generally socialising with friends and family (and I'll watch rugby if it's on).
I was born in Nelson, where a significant part of my childhood I enjoyed was spent visiting my grandparents farm and animals. I moved to Christchurch with my family as a young adult. Since graduating in 2007 from the University of Canterbury with a Commerce degree, majoring in Marketing, I have worked in administration and marketing in several different industries. These include waste and recycling, rural real estate, vehicle leasing and fleet management. My hobbies include fitness, the outdoors, friends and family.
I am originally from Romania and have lived in New Zealand since 2004. I have been in the Insurance industry for many years, joining the NZI team in 2007. In October of 2014 I joined a global Insurance Broking company as an Account Executive here in Christchurch and I got hooked on Insurance Broking.
I have joined the Hazlett Insurance team in March 2019 as Broker Sales Support. I very much enjoy assisting clients with their insurance needs and finding solutions that will better suit their Insurance requirements. Practicing a high level of customer service is very important to me and, as I do in my personal life too, I always strive to succeed in all my endeavors. Continued personal and professional growth is always at the forefront.
In my spare time I enjoy being outdoors - mountain biking, skiing, hiking. Also spending time with my family and having cuddles with the family pet.
Having an accounting based background in the agricultural and construction sectors but more recently working as a management accountant for a NZ owned petroleum company, I decided a change in vocation was on the cards. While looking at my options, I was invited to join the Hazlett team. Having been a long term Hazlett client from our livestock trading on our lifestyle block in Darfield, I was always impressed with how progressive and passionate the company was. Subsequently, I accepted the challenge and haven’t looked back. When I’m not working my time is spent with my husband Jeremy and two teenage children Caleb and Lucy, following their sports, catching up with friends and family either out on my mountain bike, out hiking or in a nice cafe enjoying a glass of wine and good food.
Originally from a farm in the Hakataramea, Karen attended primary school in Kurow before heading off to boarding school in Dunedin. Her first job was in a bank, where she worked for a year, before heading overseas. While travelling, Karen worked a variety of casual jobs that included barmaid, waitress and factory worker. When she returned, she worked on her father’s farm before joining a livestock company as a livestock clerk. Karen was then appointed as a stock agent in Kurow – a new area for the company – and was responsible for establishing and growing the business. She transferred with the company to St Andrews, where she also held an agent’s role, before moving into the insurance industry. She moved up through the company and was appointed South Island area manager. Karen returned to the livestock industry in 2011. She enjoys following her family’s sporting interests – rugby, cricket and athletics – and spending time on their small holding.
Katrina nicknamed by the engine room staff as “Colesy” grew up as a ‘townie’ in Timaru. After leaving school she worked in administration for 3 years, before marrying a farmer and moving to Kohika. Katrina and Stu have two adult sons. Katrina joined the team in 2017, after helping out on their 256ha farm for 20 years. Katrina loves spending time with her family and friends and being out and about on the farm.
Kath was born and bred in the Willowby/Eiffelton farming area near Ashburton, leaving for the bright lights of Auckland, then Christchurch, before settling in Timaru to raise two girls. Previous work history has been predominantly in the shipping/export field - Kath joined the team in 2020 for a fresh new challenge. Current passions include motorcycle riding/touring, sailing (with a good book and beverage) and skiing. Kath loves travel and adventure, also enjoying cycling, gardening and quality time with family.
Lanes earlier years began in Southland, later seeing her family relocate to Timaru. Lane spent her 5 secondary years at Timaru’s Craighead Diocesan School where she enjoyed a range of activities such as clay target shooting. Lane is passionate about travel and fitness and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Jennie was born and bred in Fairlie, growing up on a sheep farm on Ashwick Flat and after leaving school started work at the Mackenzie District Council. A move into the banking industry coincided with a shift to Nelson and then the North Island for a period of 9 years. Jennie worked in the Insurance Industry for 15 years and has three adult children. She enjoys taking long walks and loves to read - and given the opportunity, would while away the hours devouring book after book.
