Born and bred in South Canterbury with Pleasant Point being home for my formative years, living in a small rural town I was immersed in all things agricultural from a young age. My father was a shearer for 40 plus years, which is something I always endeavoured to replicate. However, following completion of my studies at Lincoln University I chose a career path that didn’t necessarily require a sweat towel. I started my agri-supplies venture undertaking a store-based role in Timaru which then led to a sales representative role focusing on agronomy. Some overseas travel thereafter, before settling back in Timaru for another sales representative role. From there, in the process of shifting to Christchurch, I switched from retail sales to wholesale where I worked for a wholesale seed company for 13 years. My wife Alice and I have two boys, Finn & Monty. I am a long-suffering Warriors fan - I love watching cricket and enjoy going on tramps with the family, with the goal of completing all the NZ great walks.
Since leaving Bay of Plenty in the early 2000’s for a stint at Lincoln University I’ve immersed myself in the field of agronomy. I’ve had various roles including forage cereal breeding and agri-chemical product development. Darfield is now home for me where I live with my wife Ash and our two young boys, Archie and Alby. Outside of work I like to head to the hills for a spot of mountain biking, hunting and skiing. Through Hazlett I’m proud to supply our farmers with industry leading knowledge and products.
